Profile and personal life

Mohamed Said Mohamed 'Farole' is a Somali Politician and government official who has served in various capacities within the Government Puntland. Born on June 21, 1973, in Garowe, he is a member of the Isse Mohamoud sub-clan of Majeerteen and is notably related to the Farole family. Farole is the cousin of the former President of Puntland, Abdirahman Farole.

Farole's educational background includes a Bachelor of Medical Science from La Trobe University, Melbourne (1996-1999), a Master of Public Health from Monash University (2001-2003), and a Diploma of Public Health in 2000. Additionally, he holds a Master of International and Community Development from Deakin University.

With a career spanning over 30 years in the Aid/Sector, Farole has been actively involved in various capacities since 1993. His engagement with different Puntland government institutions commenced in 2003, where he notably served as the Director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health in 2004-2005. Farole played a pivotal role in leading Global Fund projects in Puntland and initiated a 5-year development plan for the region.

Beyond his governmental roles, Farole contributed to the coordination of the Joint Needs Assessment (JNA) of the World Bank and UNDP in 2006. He also served as a consultant for seven Ministers at the Ministry of Planning and co-founded Puntland State University (PSU) while concurrently acting as the Coordinator for KAALO NGO. Additionally, he held the position of a former Board Member of the Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF) from 2011 to 2013, which subsequently became the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF). Farole was also a former member of the Somalia Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) in 2014, the Somalia Health Advisory Board, and the Somalia Strategic Advisory Group.

On September 23, 2022, Mohamed Said  'Farole' was appointed as the Minister for MoPEDIC (Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation) in Puntland. His extensive experience and contributions underscore his commitment to public health and development initiatives within the government.
